Zoom Akira Tango.  Character design for that Barbarian comic I was talking about the other day(yesterday).  He’s one of the Dark Witch’s Seven great warriors.  This is his Pre-Fallen form.  All of the seven warriors, and even the dark witch herself, start out as heroes, doing sort of king arthur type shit.  And then 200,000 years later, you’re some sort of techno-organic demon monster, and you’re barely recognizable to yourself.  And then you gets put down.Anyways.  I obviously borrowed way heavily from Hirohiko Araki on this character design, because well…that’s what I wanted to do.  He’s sort of a reference to Steel Ball Run.  I love Araki doing that flamboyant wild west thing.  And I envisioned this character as this sort of queer bow master of the high plains.  He has this really cool love affair with another male character, that’s the martial artist, and it informs things to happen later on, so on and so forth.  I’m really trying to fill the world out even with these supporting characters who may only be in the book for like 4 or 5 pages.  Reading something like Prophet and how much story and information is on each page—makes me want to get my game up on that front.  I want a 50 page book that reads like a 300 page book.  Hal Foster and shit.
Anyways.  It’s all a long long ways off and will hopefully change 7 times before it’s done.  I’ve been doing some of the writing the last few days on it, while putting off lettering Hecate Snake Diaries.  And the new characters give me something to draw that’s not Batman fan art.
